The History Group has inherited a vast amount of historical about the village. It has been partly Catalogued, and it an essential task of the Group to complete, that task, if only to create and control the inventory. We call this our Body of Knowledge, and it is from this that we are able to extract material to inform and support a particular line of research. This we do by setting up Projects.
The objective of a Project is to research a particular area of interest, and to publish the results of that research on the website in the form of a paper, article or presentation, and possibly be presented at one of the Groups public meetings.
We want this to be as easy as possible to do, so the process is lightweight. Firstly, anyone wishing to use the SPHG Body of Knowledge must prepare a Project Proposal. The Project Proposal simply identifies the Leader, its research Objectives, and the Deliverables.
It must give a timeline for completion, or if an ongoing project, interim delivery dates for materials or progress reports. The reason for this is to be able to publicise not only the Projects in progress, but also to sustain the interest of the wider audience of the activities of the Group.
The SPHG Project Manager will vet the proposal and circulate to the Committee. The Committee will review the proposal off-line, and deliver its decision within 2 weeks. If approved, the SPHG Project Manager will inform the Proposer and arrange the necessary access to the Knowledgebase.
